Abore Awujale Chief Rasak Oshimodi Apologises to Religious Leaders Over Viral Comments

The Olowa Iberu and Abore Awujale of Ijebuland, Chief Rasak Adeneye Oshimodi, has publicly apologised to Christian and Muslim clerics, as well as religious organisations in Ijebuland, following his controversial remarks that recently went viral on social media.

Chief Oshimodi withdrew the statements in which he had alleged that some clerics approached him for spiritual fortification and assistance to boost their congregations.

In a heartfelt message, the Abore Awujale admitted that his comments had negatively affected both churches and mosques across the region. He expressed deep regret over the incident, declaring that he had officially withdrawn all previous utterances on the matter.

“Whoever I have wronged should forgive me from the bottom of their heart,” he pleaded.

Oshimodi also confirmed that the traditional rites for the passage of the late Oba Adetona had been successfully completed, assuring that peace and stability will continue to reign in the kingdom.

He emphasised the importance of preserving Ijebu traditions and culture, insisting that those who deny their existence or potency are misleading themselves.

The Abore Awujale praised the ongoing unity and cooperation among members of the ruling house during the succession process. He urged the next ruling family to work closely with their elders in selecting a successor who is qualified, experienced, intellectually sound, and globally connected to represent Ijebuland.

Oshimodi particularly commended the Fusengbuwa royal family, led by Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, for their peaceful and orderly approach in handling the succession process.
