Accrington Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing Outside Mosque

Lancashire Police confirm charges after violent incidents in Accrington left two men seriously injured.

Lancashire Police have charged a 22-year-old man with attempted murder following a stabbing outside a mosque and a series of violent incidents in Accrington last month.

The first incident occurred at around 2:30pm on Friday, July 18, when police were called to Lower Antley Street, outside Raza Jamia Masjid. Officers discovered a man in his 40s with a stab wound to his back. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Later the same day, officers responded to reports of a large street fight involving weapons on Steiner Street, followed by another call reporting an assault in Craven Street that had taken place earlier on Richmond Street. In this case, a man was found with a neck injury consistent with a stabbing and was also taken to hospital.

Police believe all three incidents are linked.
