FEED THE POOR

Feeding the poor and needy is an act that draws us closer to Allah. We earn His forgiveness, mercies and blessings through this act of charity.

“Anyone who looks after and works for a widow and a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah?s cause, or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all night. (Bukhari)

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Group Association has launched its “largest national charity initiative” with 16 charity runs to support local causes across the country.

Causes being supported in York Region include initiatives in Newmarket and Vaughan, as well as Bradford West Gwillimbury in Simcoe County.

The charity runs are open to the public, and are primarily aimed at supporting health-care initiatives and Canadian food banks to help combat the widespread food shortages due to high inflation.

“As the largest Canadian Muslim youth group, we are acutely aware of the record demand on our health-care system and food banks,” said Zubair Afzal, national president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association.

“We feel it is our responsibility to provide support to Canadians during this challenging time. For this reason, our membership is being mobilized across the country to benefit fellow Canadians,” Afzal said.

The charity runs are set to take place within the upcoming days and weeks.

Charity runs are also set to take place in Montreal, Ottawa, Durham, Barrie, Brampton, Mississauga, Burlington, Milton, London, Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary and Delta.
