During the Moulid El-Nabi celebration, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb delivered a powerful message advocating for the adoption of a “supreme law” that champions equality, fraternity, justice, compassion, and mercy. This message, rooted in the teachings of prophets, transcends mere legalities and seeks to uplift humanity by safeguarding the vulnerable and deterring the powerful and arrogant. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi was among those present during this auspicious occasion.
The celebration of Moulid El-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, is a momentous event in the Islamic calendar, falling this year on Wednesday, September 27th in the Gregorian calendar. El-Tayyeb emphasized that Prophet Muhammad’s message holds universal significance, transcending time and place.
El-Tayyeb went on to critique man-made laws, asserting that they have failed to provide people with a good life due to their inherent flaws and susceptibility to various ideologies. He stressed two unique aspects of Prophet Muhammad’s message. First, its timeless nature, supported by Quranic verses affirming the universality of Islam’s message. Second, it is the final message, and El-Tayyeb addressed why prophecies ceased with Islam, attributing it to the nature of human and moral development.
The Grand Imam highlighted that over 15 centuries have passed since the final prophecy, during which material sciences have evolved and changed repeatedly. Despite these changes, the essence of Prophet Muhammad’s message remains unchanged, raising questions about the necessity of prophetic missions and their relevance compared to other laws, policies, customs, and traditions.

El-Tayyeb left no room for doubt, declaring that prophecy and the teachings of prophets are indispensable for maintaining righteousness in individuals and societies, ensuring happiness in both this world and the hereafter.
President El-Sisi commended El-Tayyeb’s address, emphasizing the importance of following a profound ethical path alongside worldly means for a nation to progress. In a world marked by constant change, the grand imam’s call for embracing a supreme law centered on justice, fraternity, compassion, and mercy resonates as a timeless and universal message that transcends the boundaries of culture and time, offering hope for a more just and compassionate world.
