Reports reaching us confirm the passing of Kehinde Subair, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former majority leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly. He reportedly died in the United Kingdom shortly after breaking his Ramadan fast.
The news of his demise was confirmed by APC’s Publicity Secretary in Oyo State, Wale Sadare. Speaking to Punch in Ibadan, Sadare stated, “Yes, his passing has been confirmed. However, I am currently in a studio and cannot provide further details at the moment.”
A fellow APC leader in the state, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that Subair passed away just a week before his 60th birthday. The source expressed deep sorrow, stating, “He died in the UK, just seven days shy of turning 60. His contributions to the party will not be forgotten.”

Subair served two terms in the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2019 and played key roles within the party throughout his political career. His sudden demise has left a significant void in the political landscape of Oyo State.

In a separate development, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has emphasized that the people of the state will have a decisive role in choosing his successor in the 2027 gubernatorial election.
In a statement released on Saturday, March 8, 2025, by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Makinde reiterated his commitment to ensuring continuity in governance. He mentioned that by 2026, he would officially endorse a candidate he believes will continue the state’s trajectory of development and transformation.
Makinde urged residents to remain engaged in the political process, stressing that the future of Oyo State lies in their hands.
