In a shocking attack, armed bandits abducted the Chief Imam of Bushe Community Mosque, along with at least 10 worshippers, during the early hours of Thursday in Sabon Birni Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State.
Confirming the incident, Sokoto State Police Command spokesperson, Ahmed Rufai, stated that the assailants stormed the mosque while worshippers were engaged in the Subhi (dawn) prayer. Despite the presence of security forces in the area, the bandits managed to carry out the abduction before fleeing.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the community has been grappling with recurrent attacks, with residents living in fear due to the persistent threats posed by armed groups. Security personnel reportedly acted swiftly to repel the attackers and prevent further casualties.
