The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Bangladesh held its 96th annual national convention at Ahmadnagar in Panchagarh on Sunday.

Abdul Majid Tahir, the representative of the worldwide head of Ahmadiyya community Mirza Masroor Ahmad, presided over the convention. He also inaugurated the convention with the hoisting of flags of Bangladesh and the Ahmadiyya community, singing of the national anthem, and silent prayers, said a press release.
Organisers said that the aim of the convention was to spread the teachings of the Quran and the ideal life of Prophet Muhammad (SM).
Scholars of the religious community delivered speeches on various topics, including the existence of Allah, Quran, Muhammad (SM), equity and justice, acceptance of prayers, truth of the claim of Mahdi, role of the organisation in spreading Islam across the globe, inter-religion peace and amity, and Islamic teachings in establishing peace across the world.
The Jama’at’s national amir Abdul Awwal Khan Chowdhury, naib national amirs Meer Mobashsher Ali and Ahmad Tabshir Chowdhury, Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq and Sheikh Mustafizur Rahman and others spoke in different sessions of the convention from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
They said that like any other Muslims, Ahmadiyyas firmly believed in the Kalima – La Ilaha Illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah – as well as the five pillars of Islam. Besides, Ahmadiyyas also believe that Prophet Muhammad (SM) is the seal of all prophets and the Holy Quran is the last and perfect law-bearing book, they said.
Participants in convention prayed for world peace, prosperity and fraternal harmony in their concluding prayers.
Over 6,000 Ahmadiyyas from different districts of the country attended the convention, added the release.
Besides, an exhibition of translations of the Holy Quran in 65 languages was also arranged on the occasion of the convention.
