The Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the appointment of seven new magistrates and the promotion of seven judges from Lower Sharia Courts to Upper Sharia Courts.
In a statement released on Monday, the Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Danjuma, confirmed the new appointments. The newly appointed magistrates are:
- Sadiq Mohammed Abubakar (Chief Magistrate II)
- Aminu Umar (Chief Magistrate II)
- Sani Maigari Isah (Senior Magistrate)
- Bintu Umar Mustapha (Senior Magistrate I)
- Abdullahi Adamu Sarki (Senior Magistrate I)
- Ha’inatu Ahmed (Senior Magistrate I)
- Mohammed Sani Yakubu (Senior Magistrate I)
The seven Lower Sharia Court judges promoted to the Upper Sharia Court are:
- Hafizu A. Nuhu
- Abdullahi Tijjarni
- Umar Zakari Yakubu
- Dr. A.S. Adam Bello
- Nuhu Idris Mohammed
- Isa Mohammed Bauchi
- Ibrahim Ibrahim Water
Additionally, the Commission announced disciplinary actions against five staff members. Rabiu Idris Shall, a Principal Registrar, was dismissed for repeated absenteeism, misconduct, and failure to follow lawful orders, all of which violated the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations, 2023.

The JSC also enforced the compulsory retirement of Saleh Ahmed Fanti, the Chief Magistrate of Darazo Magistrate Court, for gross misconduct and for not delivering judgments within the legally mandated time.
Hamza Mato Zungur, formerly an Upper Sharia Court judge, was demoted to the registrar level for misconduct, specifically tampering with case matters.
Further disciplinary actions included warning letters issued to Mukhtar Muhammad Bello (Sharia Court Judge, Gadau) and Mohammed Ismail (Upper Sharia Court Judge, Gumau). Their promotions have been deferred for one year due to misconduct.
