Brampton’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community have been recognized by the City with a park renaming.

This past weekend, the City of Brampton officially renamed Alloa Green Park off Brisdale Dr. and Remembrance Rd. into Ahmadiyya Park.

The renaming recognizes Brampton’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community and their contributions to the city, like the Neighbourhood Helper campaign and welcoming all of Brampton to Canada Day celebrations at the Mubarak Mosque.

“Everywhere the Ahmadiyya community goes, they want to look at ways to support their community,” Mayor Patrick Brown said at the renaming ceremony on Saturday (Sept. 24).

“When the Ahmadiyya community grows in your city, your city grows in love and generosity and kindness,” he said.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community live by the motto “love for all, hatred for none,” which exemplifies their compassion and respect for the wider Brampton community.

Member of Parliment for Brampton South Sonia Sidhu and Graham McGregor, MPP for Brampton North, were also in attendance alongside Brown, members of Brampton City Council and members of the community.

“I think politicians have a lot to learn from the Ahmadiyya muslim community, and we should always show love for all and hatred for none,” McGregor said.

You can visit Ahmadiyya Park at 340 Remembrance Rd. in Brampton.
