A shocking twist has emerged in the ongoing investigation into the Delhi car blast that claimed eight lives on Monday evening. Fresh CCTV footage has surfaced, revealing that the alleged mastermind, Dr Umar, had visited an Old Delhi mosque just hours before the fatal explosion.
According to investigative sources, the suspect—identified as Dr Umar, who was driving a Hyundai i20 that later exploded—was seen entering the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque near Turkman Gate, in the bustling Old Delhi area.
CCTV Footage Reveals Last Movements
The newly obtained footage shows Umar arriving at the mosque around 2:20 PM and remaining there for approximately 10 minutes. After leaving the mosque, he reportedly drove toward the Red Fort area, where the tragic incident took place later that evening.

Witnesses near Ramlila Maidan, opposite Turkman Gate, confirmed seeing the same vehicle departing the mosque premises before heading toward the central part of the city. Authorities are now analyzing whether Umar’s visit to the mosque was a pre-planned move or a last-minute decision before the explosion.
Explosion Near Red Fort
Later that day, at approximately 6:45 PM, the Hyundai i20 suddenly erupted into flames near the Red Fort, resulting in the deaths of eight people and injuring several others. The blast sent shockwaves through the capital, with law enforcement agencies immediately cordoning off the area and launching a full-scale investigation.
Investigation Underway
Police and forensic experts are examining multiple angles, including the possibility of explosives being planted inside the car. The presence of Dr Umar at the Old Delhi mosque just hours before the incident has raised serious questions about his intentions and possible accomplices.
Authorities are also reviewing additional CCTV footage from surrounding areas to trace Umar’s route from Turkman Gate to Red Fort. Intelligence teams are reportedly probing whether he was acting alone or had external support.
Public Reaction and Security Measures
The incident has triggered widespread concern among Delhi residents. Security around sensitive landmarks—including Jama Masjid, India Gate, and the Red Fort—has been significantly tightened.
Officials have urged the public to remain calm but vigilant, reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies immediately.
