Did Pastor Adeboye of RCCG Visit the Kaabah in Mecca? The Truth Uncovered

Viral images claim to show RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, in front of the Kaabah in Mecca. A fact-check reveals their authenticity—or lack thereof.

Images purporting to show Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), standing in front of the Kaabah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, have sparked conversations across social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).

The widely circulated images depict Pastor Adeboye, a prominent Christian leader, allegedly visiting one of Islam’s most revered religious sites. These posts have raised eyebrows and prompted discussions about their authenticity.

An X user, @Sarkideyforyou, shared the images with the caption:
“Pastor Adeboye, may Allah guide you to the right path.”

Fact-Check Findings

A thorough investigation by FactCheckHub has revealed that these images were almost certainly created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

The fact-checking organization described the claim of Adeboye’s visit to Mecca as misleading. Advanced AI detection tools, including Hive Moderation and TrueMedia.org, were utilized to analyze the images.

  • Hive Moderation: Results indicated a 99.7% and 99% likelihood that the images were AI-generated.
  • TrueMedia.org: Confirmed the images had been digitally manipulated, with a 99% confidence level in their AI-generated origin.

Additionally, no reports or posts from Pastor Adeboye or RCCG’s official channels corroborate the claim that he visited Mecca.

The Verdict

The assertion that Pastor Adeboye visited the Kaabah in Mecca is unsubstantiated and misleading. The two widely shared images showing him in traditional Arab attire are almost certainly AI-generated, according to multiple analyses.
