Exclusive: Islamic Jihad Affirms Iran’s Unified Support for Palestine

Iran’s leadership remains unwavering in its full-scale support for the Palestinian cause, according to Nasser Abu Sharif, the representative of Islamic Jihad in Iran. Recent high-level meetings in Tehran reinforced Iran’s consistent backing of Palestinian resistance, spanning its political, diplomatic, and military sectors.

“In our latest visit to Iran, we engaged with key figures across the political and military spectrum, including the President, Foreign Minister, senior IRGC commanders, and officials from the National Security Council,” Abu Sharif stated in an exclusive interview with the Tehran Times. “Across all these discussions, a unified stance was evident—an unshakable commitment to the Palestinian people’s right to resist occupation, a right firmly upheld by international laws and conventions.”

He further emphasized that Iran’s support is not limited to rhetoric but extends to tangible aid aimed at bolstering Palestinian resilience in Gaza, the West Bank, and beyond. “We witnessed an enduring and strategic commitment from Iran that is not dictated by shifting political interests but by a long-term vision for Palestine,” he noted.

Iran has long positioned itself as a leading force in the Axis of Resistance, aligning with Palestinian factions against Israeli occupation. During Israel’s latest conflict in Gaza, Tehran spearheaded diplomatic efforts to mobilize regional action, proposing the severance of ties with Israel to pressure an end to the hostilities—an appeal largely ignored by neighboring states.

In 2024, Iranian armed forces launched unprecedented missile and drone strikes against Israeli positions in occupied territories, marking a significant escalation in direct military engagement. Additionally, Iran continues to provide strategic backing to allied resistance movements, including Yemen’s Ansarullah, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, and factions in Iraq.

During his time in Tehran, Abu Sharif, along with other representatives, met with Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a private session. Describing the encounter as both “positive” and “insightful,” he shared details of the Leader’s emphasis on Palestinian unity.

“Our meeting with His Eminence Ayatollah Khamenei centered around the importance of Palestine in the broader struggle for justice. He deeply values the role of resistance movements in confronting Zionist occupation and policies of apartheid,” Abu Sharif explained.

Ayatollah Khamenei particularly underscored the necessity of unity among Palestinian factions. “He warned of ongoing plots aimed at displacing Palestinians and erasing their cause from global discourse. According to him, solidarity among resistance groups is the most powerful defense against occupation and oppression,” Abu Sharif added.

Reflecting on his engagements in Tehran, Abu Sharif expressed renewed confidence in Islamic Jihad’s mission. “With unwavering resolve, we will continue our resistance until our land is fully liberated,” he affirmed.
