Five persons, who were arrested for allegedly burgling a mosque in Lagos, have been dragged before an Ogba chief magistrate court, Lagos.

The defendants – Tosin Abel, 20; Temitope Precious, 18; Tunmise Makinde, 19; Sodiq Sowemimo, 23; and 18-year-old Samuel Ogunrobi – were charged with offences bordering on breaking & entry and robbery.
If found guilty, the defendants may spend five years in prison custody with hard labour.
The police said that the defendants allegedly broke into Zawiyat Mosque, Amukoko, Lagos, penultimate Tuesday, attacked some worshippers inside the mosque and dispossessed them of their cash and phones. They thereafter escaped.

“The defendants stormed the place at about 1am when the Muslim faithful were having a vigil and robbed the people of their valuables,” the police said.
The prosecutor, Mrs Williams Rachael, said the defendants confessed during interrogation that they were not the only ones who went for the operation.
The magistrate, Mrs O. O. Akingbesote, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution for advice.

Akingbesote adjourned the case till November 14, 2019.
