Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haidar Khan has commended Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his bold address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he raised awareness about the suffering of Muslims in Palestine, Gaza, and Indian-occupied Kashmir. The governor lauded the Prime Minister for his courageous leadership during a public gathering in the village of Kot Chajji, located in Attock district. The event marked the foundation-laying ceremony of a new 9.6 km long road, set to be constructed at a cost of Rs 158 million.

Governor Haidar emphasized that PM Shahbaz Sharif’s speech represented the voice of a true Muslim leader and called on other Muslim nations to take a stand on these issues. He urged Islamic countries to come together and advocate for the rights of oppressed Muslim communities around the world. He stressed that Pakistan cannot remain isolated and must continue to play a role in supporting these vulnerable groups.

Turning to domestic politics, the governor called for unity among all political parties to drive the nation towards progress. He emphasized the need to effectively use Pakistan’s vast resources for development and prosperity. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the infrastructure in Jand tehsil of Attock district, including the establishment of an Engineering University campus and a soon-to-be-opened Dialysis Center at the THQ Hospital in Pindigheb.

During the event, the governor inaugurated a water supply project for the village of Uchhri, which is expected to cost Rs 3 million. He urged local leaders to work together for the advancement of the district. Reflecting on his time as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA), Sardar Saleem Haidar mentioned his role in providing gas facilities to 55 villages, thanking former President Asif Zardari for his support. He also expressed confidence that Bilawal Bhutto would become Pakistan’s next Prime Minister.

The governor stressed the importance of merit-based appointments for vice-chancellors in Punjab’s universities and criticized political leaders for the country’s current challenges. Upon his arrival at the event, he received a warm reception from the local community.
