It is so easy to feel helpless, to feel like one can’t change what’s going on right now.

FEED THE POOR

Feeding the poor and needy is an act that draws us closer to Allah. We earn His forgiveness, mercies and blessings through this act of charity.

“Anyone who looks after and works for a widow and a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah?s cause, or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all night. (Bukhari)

Millions of people have found themselves forced into lockdown due to severe spread of coronavirus.

Though social distancing might be harmful to mental health, yet it offers many some very much-needed free time.

To make the best use of this free time, the Islamic Council
of North America (ICNA) is hosting its
first virtual National Symposium on April 10-11, 2020.

“To help us move forward as a community and a nation, we’d like to invite you to attend our virtual National Symposium on April 10-11, 2020,” a statement sent to AboutIslam.net read.

“Event’s theme is “And when My servant asks you, concerning Me- Indeed I am near” (2:186).”

Speakers include Javaid Siddiqi, Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Sh. Omar Suleiman, Dr. Altaf Husain, Linda Sarsour, and Zahra Billoo.

Canceled Event

The decision to hold a virtual symposium comes after the cancellation
of the annual ICNA-MAS
Convention in Washington, DC, planned from April
10-12 due to coronavirus.

Last year’s convention attracted roughly 22,000 attendees and offered
more than 150 speakers giving presentations in more than 130 sessions.

ICNA is one of the largest, non-profit, grassroots Muslim organizations
in North America with many projects, programs, and activities designed to help
in reforming society at large.

Since 1968, ICNA has worked to build relations between
communities by devoting itself to education, outreach, social services, and relief
efforts.
