How Important Is Lailatul Qadr (The Night of Decree)

The nights Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power / Decree) in Ramadan is of great significance. Holy Quran was sent down in this particular night. Angels descend in this particular night. This night surpasses a thousand months. Whatever good deeds you do within this night, it’s as you did it for 1000 months or 83 years! Authentic hadiths say Laylat-al-Qadr is whithin the last 10 days of Ramadan (in the odd night). There is strong scholarly opinion that it must be mostly on 25th, 27th or 29th nights the Ramadan. Don’t miss it!

Recite more Quran!
Repeat these again and again just like you may not get another Ramadan or Lailatul Qadr !

Lailatul Qadr In The Al-Quran

Allah Almighty says in the Al-Quran:

“Indeed, We sent it down within a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. On that night is manufactured distinct every precise matter – [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send out [a messenger] As mercy out of your Lord. Indeed, He may be the Hearing, the Knowing.”
[Quran 44:3-6]

“Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And exactly what can make you really know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree provides improvement over a thousand months. The angels and also the Spirit descend therein by permission of the Lord for each and every matter. Peace it can be until the emergence of dawn.”

Lailatul Qadr In The Hadiths

Abu Huraira reported Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as saying:
He who observed the fasts of Ramadan with (إيمان) faith hoping reward (from Allah), all his previous sins could well be forgiven, and the man who observed prayer on Lailat-ul- Qadr with faith looking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins could be forgiven.
[Sahih Muslim Book 6, Hadith 209]

Lailatul Qadr1‘A’isha (Allah pleased with her) and Ibn Numair reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Look for Lailat-ul-Qadr in a final ten nights of Ramadan.
[Sahih Muslim Book 13, Hadith 282]

Salim reported around the authority of his father which a person saw Lailat-ul- Qadr within the 27th (of Ramadan). Thereupon Allah’s messanger (ﷺ) said:
I notice that your dreams agree regarding the final ten (nights of Ramadan). So seek it by using an odd number (of such ten nights).
[Sahih Muslim Book 13, Hadith 269]

Ibn Umar (Allah enjoy them) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Seek it (Lailat-ul-Qadr) in the very last (ten nights). If one among you shows slackness and weakness (inside the earlier portion of Ramadan), it should not be allowed to prevail upon him in the past week.
[Sahih Muslim Book 13, Hadith 271]

‘Aishah (May Allah pleased with her) reported:
I asked: “O Messenger of Allah! If I realize Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree), what should I supplicate within it?” He (ﷺ) replied, “You should supplicate: “Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni” meaning: (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).”
