Jigawa Allocates N4.8 Billion for 2025 Ramadan Feeding Initiative

The Jigawa State Government has announced plans to allocate N4.8 billion for its 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, designed to support vulnerable citizens during the holy month of Ramadan.

This was revealed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sagir Musa, during a press briefing held on Monday evening after the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Dutse.

Mr. Musa disclosed that the programme will be a collaborative effort between the state and local governments, with the state government contributing 55% of the funding while the local governments provide the remaining 45%.

He further announced an increase in the number of feeding centres, which will rise from 609 last year to 630 in 2025. Each centre is set to provide three meals daily to 300 beneficiaries.

“The council has approved the provision of three meals per individual at each centre, including kunu, kosai, and jollof rice, to ensure adequate nourishment for all beneficiaries,” Musa stated.

Beyond the feeding programme, the council also approved a significant project to revitalize 114 ward-level Primary Health Care Centres across the state.

This initiative, estimated at N9.7 billion, is aimed at improving healthcare services as part of the government’s broader commitment to achieving Universal Health Care coverage.

According to Musa, this revitalization effort is being implemented under the World Bank-supported Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) programme.

“This healthcare revitalization project reaffirms the government’s dedication to enhancing the overall well-being of Jigawa’s residents,” he added.

These initiatives underscore the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting its citizens through improved access to essential services, particularly during critical periods like Ramadan.
