The Jigawa State Police Command has assured residents of comprehensive security measures to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free Maulud celebration across the state.
Rabi’ul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, holds great significance for Muslims worldwide as it marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, recently declared Monday, August 25, 2025, as the first day of Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH.

Known as Mawlid al-Nabi, the Prophet’s birthday is commemorated with prayers, Qur’an recitations, sermons, charity, and community gatherings. The celebration highlights values of peace, unity, and compassion while strengthening communal bonds among Muslims. In Nigeria, including Jigawa State, the observance combines deep spiritual devotion with rich cultural expressions.
During this period, residents of Jigawa State engage in Maulud events that not only foster religious devotion but also reinforce unity and solidarity within the community.
Police Commitment to Peaceful Festivities
The security assurance was made public on Tuesday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, after a courtesy visit to the state command headquarters by the Non-Indigene Minority Tribes Forum of Jigawa State and the Jigawa State Zawiyya Islamiyya Association.
The delegation was led by Ibrahim Yahaya Katsina, Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indigene Matters, and Musa Saminu, Secretary General of the Zawiyya Islamiyya Association.
Addressing the visitors, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, expressed gratitude for their support and assured residents of the command’s commitment to fairness, professionalism, and inclusivity in its operations.
He confirmed that adequate security plans have been put in place to ensure smooth and peaceful Maulud celebrations across the state. Muhammad also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies, remain law-abiding, and immediately report any suspicious activities.
Community–Police Partnership
In a statement, the police spokesperson highlighted that the visit further strengthened the collaborative relationship between security agencies and community groups in Jigawa.
“This joint effort underscores the importance of community–police partnerships in promoting peace, unity, and security ahead of major religious celebrations in Jigawa State,” he said.
With the assurance from the police command, residents are encouraged to celebrate Maulud in an atmosphere of peace, faith, and communal harmony.
