Kano Governor Appoints New Leaders for Civil Service, Sharia, and Zakkat Commissions

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has unveiled a fresh lineup of officials to head key state institutions, including the Civil Service, Sharia, and Zakkat and Hubsi Commissions.

In a press release issued by Sunusi Bature, the governor’s spokesperson, it was revealed that these appointments were made in accordance with constitutional provisions and established protocols. The announcement highlighted the governor’s commitment to strengthening public institutions to better serve the people of Kano.

Civil Service Commission Appointments

Ahmad Ishaq was named Chairman of the Kano State Civil Service Commission. Accompanying him as permanent members are Abdullahi Mahmoud (Permanent Member I) and Ado Mohammed (Permanent Member II).

Sharia Commission Leadership

For the Sharia Commission, Sheikh Abbas Abubakar-Daneji has been appointed as Executive Chairman. Supporting him are Hadi Gwani-Dahiru as Permanent Commissioner I and Sheikh Ali Dan’Abba as Permanent Commissioner II. Additional members of the commission include:

  • Adamu Ibrahim
  • Abubakar Mai-Ashafa
  • Malam Naziru Saminu-Dorayi
  • Sheikh Kawu Aliyu-Harazumi
  • Sheikh Mukhtar Mama
  • Sheikh Ibrahim Limamin-Ja’en
  • Sheikh Sani Ashir, who will serve as Secretary.

Zakkat and Hubsi Commission Appointments

For the Zakkat and Hubsi Commission, Habibu Dan-Almajiri has been appointed as Executive Chairman. Joining him are Sheikh Nafiu Umar-Harazumi (Permanent Commissioner I) and Dr. Ali Quraish (Permanent Commissioner II). Other appointees include:

  • Adamu Muhammad-Andawo
  • Malam Yahaya Kwana-Hudu
  • Sheikh Hassan Sani-Kafinga
  • Sheikh Arabi Tudun-Nufawa
  • Sani Umar-Bichi

The final position of Secretary will be filled by a nominee from the Civil Service Commission.

Governor’s Vision and Expectations

Governor Yusuf underscored that these appointments reflect his administration’s focus on accountability, transparency, and efficiency within public institutions. He expressed confidence in the expertise, integrity, and dedication of the newly appointed officials to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
