Presidential hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a bold declaration regarding his potential popularity within the Muslim community. In a recent statement, Agyapong confidently stated that he expects to garner more votes from the Muslim community than Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who himself is a Muslim.
Agyapong’s assertion is grounded in his belief that his contributions to the Muslim community far outweigh those of Dr. Bawumia. He pointed out that he has dedicated substantial effort and resources to the betterment of the Muslim community over the years, making him a favorable choice for their support.
During a spirited gathering of his party supporters at the Kumasi Showdown Walk on Saturday, September 30, 2023, Agyapong stressed the importance of avoiding religious and tribal politics in the ongoing presidential race. However, he also issued a warning, emphasizing that he is not one to shy away from confronting such divisive tactics when deemed necessary.

I have no intention of engaging in tribal politics, but if the situation demands it, I will respond with a powerful rebuttal,” Agyapong declared, eliciting resounding cheers from his enthusiastic supporters.
Moreover, he firmly stated, “We must put an end to these tribal politics,” cautioning against those who seek to inject tribal and religious elements into the party’s presidential contest.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is one of the four prominent aspirants vying for the party’s nomination at the upcoming presidential conference scheduled for November 4. He aspires to lead the NPP into the highly anticipated 2024 general elections.
