Imam Shamshad A. Nasir currently serves as a Missionary of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He has devoted his life to serving Islam Ahmadiyyat since 1973 after graduating from Jamia Ahmadiyya, an intensive, multilingual, seven-year missionary training seminary in Rabwah, Pakistan.
Imam Shamshad is a prolific and profound speaker and an experienced writer on spiritual, interfaith, and secular issues. He is well-known for his scholarly knowledge of Islam and for building bridges of understanding, cooperation, and friendship between Ahmadiyya Islam and other faith-based communities.
Over the last 50 years, Imam Shamshad has served in Pakistan, Ghana, Sierra Leone (West Africa), and the United States. Before his posting in Virginia, he served in Southern California for ten years, and he was stationed for eight years at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s U.S. national headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. Previously, he served in Houston, Dayton, Ohio, and Detroit. Imam Shamshad has been an Imam and missionary in the U.S. for more than 35 years.
Imam Shamshad has worked in the U.S. with many community, state, and national leaders to promote the cause of peace through increasing understanding and knowledge of each other. He is also a regular contributor to many English, Arabic, and Urdu newspapers. His articles have been printed in numerous religious publications as far away as Europe and South Asia.
Throughout his service of the Faith, he has continuously promoted the cause of peace through interfaith dialogue, peace symposiums, and humanitarian and civic outreach, and by engaging in the free exchange of ideas in the available media.
