As the world Muslims welcome the month of Rabi` Awwal, in which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is believed to be born, many are rushing to commemorate the anniversary with compassion and love to the neighbors.
In Newcastle, dozens of members of a local Islamic center donated blood to help Newcastle Donor center.
“In our religion, we are encouraged to help those in need and we want to help save people’s lives by donating blood,” Kamran Haider, who donated blood in the event organized by Tahweed Newcastle Islamic Center on October 8, told Chronicle Live.
“However, more awareness is needed in our community about donating in order to help others and to help more members of our community revive memories of the grandson of the Holy Prophet.”
Sheikh Meisam Ghasemi, director of Tawheed Newcastle Islamic Center, added that the event also honored Prophet’s grandson, Hussein bin Ali.
“Blood donation is a way for us to honor the sacrifice made by Hussain ibn Ali. And to help those in need,” he said.
“Giving blood is quick, safe, and clean, and the whole donation process is easy. We want to encourage donors from all backgrounds and hope that this group session will become a regular event.”

Newcastle Donor Center welcomed the Muslim initiative, encouraging others to follow their model.
“We are very grateful to Sheikh Ghasemi and everyone at the Tahweed Newcastle Islamic Centre for making their first donations,” Lynn Woods, Newcastle Donor Centre manager, said.
“Blood donation saves lives and to supply hospitals we need people to donate through the year.”
Blood transfusion for medical purposes is permissible in Islam. Muslims should feed the hungry, take care of the sick, and save the lives of people.
Also, it is permissible to take blood from a non-Muslim and it is permissible to give blood to non-Muslims. These matters are related to human life.
