OIC and Islamic Nations Unite in Condemnation of Terrorist Attack in Turkish Capital

In a unified display of condemnation against the recent terrorist attack in the Turkish capital, Ankara, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and several Islamic nations have expressed their unwavering support for Türkiye and their resolute stance against terrorism.

The OIC, a prominent intergovernmental organization, issued a strong statement denouncing all forms of terrorist activities. In this statement, the OIC reaffirmed its commitment to standing in solidarity with the Turkish government during these challenging times.

Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, echoed these sentiments in a heartfelt statement:

“In Somalia, we stand firmly with the brotherly people and government of the Republic of Türkiye and strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack in Ankara today. This act of evil cowardice aimed at hurting innocent lives fills us with determination to stand together against terror,” he declared on his personal social media account.

Iraq also voiced its condemnation of the attack, with the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issuing a resolute statement:

“The Iraqi government and its people strongly condemn the terrorist attack in front of the General Directorate of Security under the Turkish Ministry of Interior in Ankara. We stand in unwavering solidarity with the government and people of the Republic of Türkiye,” the statement affirmed.

Tunisia, too, expressed its strong condemnation:

“Tunisia strongly condemns the terrorist attack carried out against the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye,” announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Tunisia emphasized its enduring solidarity with Türkiye in the fight against terrorism and violence while underscoring the imperative need for international collaboration in this ongoing battle.

Afghanistan joined the chorus of condemnation, expressing its profound sorrow and sympathy:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan condemns in the strongest terms the saddening and deplorable incident that took place this morning in front of the Ankara Police Headquarters, which has left several police officers injured,” stated Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Afghanistan extended its heartfelt condolences to the government of Türkiye and the affected families, praying for the swift and complete recovery of the injured.

During the attack, two police officers sustained minor injuries when a terrorist detonated an explosive device in front of the General Security Department. Swift action by security forces at the entrance neutralized another terrorist, preventing further harm.

This united front of condemnation from the OIC and multiple Islamic countries underscores their commitment to supporting Türkiye in the face of such cowardly acts of terrorism. It also serves as a reminder of the global imperative to combat terrorism through collective efforts and unwavering solidarity.
