If one’s home is so far from the masjid that the sound of the adhān given in it does not reach him then in such a scenario the one who prays in his home will recite both the adhān and the iqāmah like a musāfir will.  His leaving both the adhān and iqāmah or leaving the iqāmah will be makrūh.  In most homes in the UK the sound of the adhān does not reach the homes. Thus in this scenario when praying alone at home one should recite both the adhān and the iqāmah or at least the iqāmah alone.

Just as is mentioned in al-Fatāwā al-Alamgīrī:

“If one prayed in his home in a village then if there is a masjid in the village in which adhān and iqāmah is recited the ruling upon him will be the same as the ruling upon the one who prays in his home in a city.  If there is no masjid in the village then the ruling upon him is the ruling of a musāfir….It is makrūh for a musāfir to leave both adhān and iqāmah even if he is alone.”
