QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: In our culture, the wife moves in with the husband and lives with him – is this necessary, or can the husband go to live in his wife’s home after getting married?

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

Yes, a married man can live in his wife’s home, provided she is ok with it; there is no problem with this. Generally speaking, it is a condition for the husband to provide shelter for his wife i.e. a roof over her head. However, if the wife is content with him moving in, then he may do so.
