Definite knowledge is not attained from istikhārah, rather probable knowledge is acquired and it is not necessary that things will occur according to the knowledge attained from istikhārah. Therefore it is not necessary according to the Sharī’ah to act in accordance with the information acquired in the istikhārah.  You may act opposite to it on the condition that the opposing action is permissible.  Yes, however, if the istikhārah performed was that which is explained in the ahādīth then it is better that one act in the way that is indicated to in the istikhārah and refrain from opposing it in action because it is possible that there be harm for you in that. However, according to the Sharī’ah it is not prevented from acting opposite to it.
