Qatari Women Donate Real Estate Endowments for Mosques, Healthcare, Education, and Needy Families

Doha, Qatar In a remarkable act of generosity, the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has received a substantial real estate endowment from a group of Qatari women. The initiative highlights a growing awareness of endowments as a sustainable means of supporting community development.

The donation includes a residential complex of eight villas in Al Khor, a two-storey villa in Al Wakra, and two residential properties in North Khalifa City. According to official reports, this marks the donors’ first endowment, making their contribution a pioneering example of women-led charitable giving in Qatar.

Eng. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Marzouqi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, praised the gesture, describing it as “a model of diversity and inclusiveness in charitable work.”

The donors stipulated that the revenues from these properties be directed to four key areas:

  • Supporting mosques

  • Enhancing healthcare services

  • Advancing education and cultural initiatives

  • Assisting underprivileged families

Al-Marzouqi emphasized that such initiatives embody the Directorate’s mission of promoting endowment culture among individuals while maintaining governance, sustainability, and long-term social impact.

“Real estate endowments, in particular, ensure that benefits continue for generations, strengthening the concept of sadaqah jariyah (continuous charity),” Al-Marzouqi noted.

Under the endowment agreement, the donors will serve as custodians of the properties during their lifetimes. Afterward, supervision will be transferred to the General Administration of Endowments, guaranteeing both the donors’ rights and the realization of their charitable vision.

The generated revenues will be distributed across four specialized endowment funds:

This diverse allocation demonstrates the donors’ intention to maximize the impact of their contribution, serving worshippers, supporting patients, nurturing education and culture, and strengthening family welfare.

The initiative stands as an inspiring model of community-focused philanthropy and reinforces the vital role of endowments in sustainable social development.
