Rabbana la taj’alna fitnatan lil qaumi zalimin (Dua With Meaning)

The 24th Rabbana dua from Quran which begins “rabbana la tajalna fitnatan…” is from Surah Yunus ayat 85-86.

This dua asks Allah for many different things and can be recited for the following:

  • Remembrance and reliance on Allah alone.
  • Asks through Allah’s mercy for protection and strength in your faith as a Muslim.
  • Said to ask Allah that we do not fall into Fitnah (meaning trial, affliction, or distress).

In the previous ayat before this dua, Prophet Musa (AS) advises the Israelites that if they are truly Muslim they will only put their reliance in Allah alone. At the time, people were afraid of the Pharaoh because of the power he possesed, so Prophet Musa was advising the people to not be afraid as Allah will be enough for them.

It is then they recited the rabbana la tajalna fitnatan dua.
