Saudi Arabia is preparing for a spell of unstable weather, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting several days of moderate to heavy rainfall beginning today (Monday). The stormy conditions are expected to last through the middle of next week, affecting multiple regions across the Kingdom.
According to the NCM, the provinces of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, Tabuk, and Medina will experience widespread showers. The highland areas of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, and Mecca are expected to bear the brunt of the heaviest downpours. Meanwhile, parts of Riyadh and Najran may also see light to moderate rainfall.

Authorities have cautioned that the weather system could trigger flash floods, hailstorms, and powerful downdrafts capable of stirring dust and sand, particularly in the Mecca region.
Among the areas expected to be most affected are Mecca, Taif, Al Laith, Al Qunfudhah, and several nearby towns across the wider governorate.
In response to the forecast, the Saudi Civil Defence has issued public safety advisories urging residents to:
-
Stay indoors whenever possible.
-
Avoid valleys, flood-prone zones, and open water areas.
-
Refrain from swimming in streams and ponds during the storm period.
-
Follow updates and official instructions via government websites and social media platforms.
The Civil Defence emphasized that public cooperation is vital to reduce risks during the severe weather spell.
