The former wife of Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal has had €600,000 ($729,635) worth of handbags, furs and other items stolen from her in Paris, the Times newspaper reports.

According to French prosecutors, 60-year-old Jean-Michel I allegedly took the goods from 47-year-old Naela Al Rasheed’s apartment in Paris after pretending to be a doctor.

Police found that Jean-Michel I had persuaded Al Rasheed to take a health cure at La Grande-Motte, a Mediterranean resort, last summer. In her absence, he removed about 30 Hermès bags, jewels, furs, jackets and a Cartier watch, according to Le Parisien newspaper.

He does not deny removing a number of the items, but claims he was selling them on eBay with Al Rasheed’s agreement to raise funds for her.

It was later discovered that nine of the 11 bags he admitted to taking were counterfeit.
