ÖREBRO, SWEDEN – Police in Sweden have launched an attempted murder investigation after two people were wounded in a shooting outside a mosque in the city of Örebro on Friday.
According to local reports, gunfire erupted shortly after Friday prayers, with at least one victim transported to hospital for treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the severity of the injuries.
Investigators are still working to determine whether the attack was directed at the mosque itself or specific individuals. The suspect remains at large.

Police and emergency services quickly arrived at the scene in significant numbers, cordoning off the area and urging the public to avoid the vicinity as the investigation continues.

“This is a serious incident, and our focus is on securing evidence and locating the perpetrator,” a police spokesperson said.
The incident has raised concerns within the local community, particularly as worshippers had just concluded prayers when the shooting occurred.
