The sport of archery is being revived among Muslim kids with a Stock-on-Trent mosque teaming up with Trent Valley Archers to run free sessions for members of the community.

FEED THE POOR

Feeding the poor and needy is an act that draws us closer to Allah. We earn His forgiveness, mercies and blessings through this act of charity.

“Anyone who looks after and works for a widow and a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah?s cause, or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all night. (Bukhari)

Archery GB’s Project Rimaya supported the project to increase participation in archery amongst Muslim communities and promote community integration.

The “have-a-go” sessions, hosted by Hanley Central Mosque, will take place on Sunday, August 7 at the Equality House Community Centre in Raymond Street.

“What I want to see on the shooting line is everybody standing together and shooting arrows, talking and conversing with each other and respecting each other,” said Grant Piland, of Trent Valley Archers and Chair of Staffordshire County Archery Association, BBC reported.

“That’s what we need to do, not just for the love of the sport, but for communities and for the country. It has become a passion of mine.”

Muslims should teach their kids archery, swimming, and horse riding.

In a statement many Muslim scholars attributed to Umar Ibn El-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, he says, “Teach your children swimming, archery, and horse riding.”

Islam encourages anything that promotes refreshing mind or revitalizing the body provided it does not lead to or involve sin, cause harm, or hamper or delay religious obligations.
