Two individuals have been charged after a disturbing video surfaced showing a man burning a copy of the Koran and subsequently being attacked outside the Turkish consulate in London.
According to social media footage, the victim was seen lying on the ground as his assailant repeatedly kicked and brandished a knife towards him.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Hamit Coskun, 50, from Derby, has been charged with a religiously aggravated public order offence. He was allegedly caught on camera setting fire to the book in Rutland Gardens, Knightsbridge, on Thursday. Coskun has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
Meanwhile, 59-year-old Moussa Kadri from Kensington and Chelsea faces charges of actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The video, posted on social media platform X, captures the moment a man ignites a book near the consulate’s security barriers. Shortly after, he is seen on the ground as another individual kicks him and makes slashing motions with a knife before walking away.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant information.
