Özil Donates £80,000 to Help Muslims This Ramadan

As Ramadan comes at a difficult time of COVID-19 pandemic, Muslims observing fasting across the world have been putting extra effort into charity work.

Many have volunteered their time and effort, while others made generous donations to the needy.

Keeping up with the spirits of giving in Ramadan, Arsenal Muslim midfielder Mesut Özil has made a generous £80,000 donation to a Turkish charity to help Muslims during Ramadan amid coronavirus crisis.

The donation will provide food and aid for 16,000 Muslims throughout the holy month.

Helping Those in Need

Kerem Kinik, of Turkish Red Crescent, praised Ozil for his contribution and said it would be gratefully received by those in need.

“At the Red Crescent, we stand by those in need 365 days a year,” he said, as reported by the Daily Sabah.

“Of course, we do this thanks to donations made by philanthropist friends who follow our work. As donations increase, we will be able to reach even more people in need.

“Thanks to our brother Mesut, we will be able to deliver packages provided to people in need – delivering them as soon as possible.”

Özil has been incredibly generous with his charity work and is an ambassador for the Rays of Sunshine charity.

Özil has also been a huge supporter of the charity BigShoe, who work with German and Swiss doctors to provide life-changing surgeries to kids who need it.

The German international celebrated marriage by paying for 1,000 children to have life-changing surgery, asking friends and family attending his wedding to follow suit.

In May 2018, Özil spent £30,000 on a special-edition “Invincibles” Rolex watch during Arsenal’s annual charity fundraising ball, to support different charity causes.
