The Israeli military has announced the arrest of an individual it identified as a senior member of the Islamic Group during an overnight operation in southern Lebanon.
According to an official statement released by Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee, troops from the 210th Division carried out a targeted raid on a building in the southern part of Lebanon late at night. The operation, he said, followed weeks of intelligence gathering related to activities allegedly linked to the group.
The suspect was detained at the location and later transferred into Israel for further questioning. The military also claimed that weapons were discovered inside the building during the operation.
In his statement, Adraee alleged that the Islamic Group has been involved in attacks against Israel and Israeli civilians, particularly amid the ongoing conflict and recent tensions along the northern border.
