Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at supports Gambia Red Cross

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, The Gambia, in collaboration with Humanity First on Friday donated sanitary materials to the government of The Gambia through The Gambia Red Cross Society as part of their contribution in the fight against covid-19 pandemic.

The donated materials include 25 buckets of 20 liters, 25 buckets of 10 liters, 9 gallons of 5 liters bleach and 65 liters of liquid soap to be distributed within the Greater Banjul Area, Banjul and the Barra ferry terminal.

Amir Baba F. Trawally said in addition to the materials, they also have homeopathy medicine for covid-19 and different disease prevention, saying they have the cure for covid-19 but they will first get in touch with health authorities before releasing them.

Amir Trawally said coronavirus is affecting almost all the countries around the world with many people contracting the virus while many others lose their lives.

“We are sad and praying that Allah help us. Years ago, Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) has given guidelines to follow during such pandemic by people staying where they are during the period of such outbreak,” he said.

He added that the Prophet (S.A.W) has also advised people to maintain cleanliness which he said is part of faith, saying Muslims should be clean and ensure that the environments where they live is also clean. He urged people to pray for the peace of the country which is above everything.

Modou Touray, Gambia Red Cross Society’s communication officer thanked the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for the generosity, saying it demonstrates that the fight against the pandemic requires collaboration.

“People from various regions have been requesting hand washing materials from us and your intervention is really timely and would help in supporting the people,” he said.

Mr. Touray highlighted that hand washing is key in fighting the virus, and urged people to prevent themselves by regularly washing their hands with soap and water, cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing, avoid gatherings as well as to observe social distancing.

She said they hope other individuals and institutions will emulate the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in fighting the virus and assured the donors that the materials will be put into good use.
