Dubai: As the holy month of Ramadan draws near, Kuwait’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has intensified preparations to ensure mosques across the country are fully ready to receive worshippers for Taraweeh and late-night prayers.
Local media reports indicate that approximately 1,700 mosques spread across Kuwait’s six governorates are undergoing comprehensive readiness work ahead of the fasting month. These preparations include essential maintenance, routine servicing, deep cleaning, and the arrangement of women’s prayer sections as well as outdoor prayer courtyards. Maintenance crews will remain on standby 24 hours a day throughout Ramadan to address any technical issues.

Specialised teams have been assigned to supervise contractors and ensure that all major works are completed on schedule. These works cover structural repairs, electrical systems, sound equipment, air-conditioning units, and elevator maintenance. Officials stressed that no mosque will be reopened to worshippers unless all required maintenance is fully completed, prioritising public safety.
In parallel, the ministry is working closely with several government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, fire and civil defence departments, social affairs authorities, and health services. This coordination aims to maintain safety, organise donations, support volunteer deployment, and provide ambulance and emergency medical services at designated Ramadan centres.
Additional measures will be enforced to curb begging, regulate charitable contributions, protect vehicles around mosques, and manage traffic flow, especially at locations expected to attract large congregations. Ramadan centres will be designated based on community needs, while organised religious retreats will promote moderation, social responsibility, and shared community values throughout the holy month.
