NAHCON shortlists 230 medical personnel for hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says it has selected 230 medical personnel for the 2023 hajj operations.

The commission’s chairman, Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja at the inauguration of the national medical team for the 2023 hajj exercise.

He said the medical personnel were selected from 10,000 applications received, without giving detail on selection criteria.

Hassan urged them to be totally compliant with the guidelines of the Saudi Arabian medical profession, saying the service to be rendered to the pilgrims is a trust.

He said NAHCON will not accept any excuse of negligence, lamenting that some medical personnel abandoned their duty posts during the last year’s hajj exercise.

The chairman of the medical committee and NAHCON’s Commissioner, Policy, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), Sheikh Suleiman Momoh, advised the medical personnel to be proactive in their duties.

“We will not condone any excuse in leaving the duty post because the life of every Nigerian is very important to us,” he said.
