Oman’s Grand Mufti Appeals for Urgent Action to Protect Gaza’s Humanitarian Aid

In a heartfelt and urgent plea, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, has called on Islamic and international organizations to take immediate and effective steps to ensure humanitarian aid for Gaza is delivered safely and ethically.

The Grand Mufti shared his message on the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter), highlighting the critical need for vigilance and transparency in the delivery of food and medical supplies to the besieged Gaza Strip.

“We urge all organizations working to supply vital aid to Gaza to remain alert and proactive in preventing theft or manipulation by profiteers,” Sheikh Al-Khalili stated.

He expressed concern over individuals exploiting the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza for personal gain, stating that some are reselling essential aid at inflated prices—placing it out of reach for those most in need.

“Such exploitation deepens the suffering of the vulnerable and turns compassion into a marketplace,” the Mufti warned. “This is not just a logistical issue, but a moral failure.”

The Grand Mufti urged the international community to step in decisively, calling for robust safeguards that ensure the integrity of aid delivery and mechanisms to halt the exploitation of Gaza’s suffering.

He directed a solemn appeal to Muslims around the world:

“The plight of Gaza is a responsibility that weighs upon every Muslim. You will be held accountable before Allah for the pain and hunger endured by your brothers and sisters. This is not a burden to ignore.”

In closing, Sheikh Al-Khalili expanded his call to include people of all faiths and nations, emphasizing the shared human responsibility to confront injustice:

“We extend this plea to all people of conscience—this is your cause too. Let your voice and actions rise to meet the urgency of this moment.”

As Gaza continues to face one of its most severe humanitarian crises, the Grand Mufti’s message stands as a reminder of the collective moral duty to act—not just with aid, but with integrity, urgency, and compassion.
