Pakistan Urges India to End State-Backed Discrimination Against Muslims

ISLAMABADPakistan has issued a strong statement condemning what it described as a disturbing escalation of Islamophobic actions and rhetoric in India. The statement, released by the Foreign Office on Saturday, voiced grave concern over the safety and dignity of Indian Muslims amid a wave of alleged state-backed hostility and intolerance.

According to the statement, Muslim communities in India are being systematically marginalized through hate speech, exclusionary practices, and policies that violate basic human rights and democratic norms.

“The growing trend of vilifying Muslims through hate-driven narratives and systemic discrimination is deeply alarming,” a spokesperson for the Foreign Office said. “These actions are not only damaging to India’s social fabric but also undermine global efforts to promote interfaith harmony.”

Pakistan emphasized that the exploitation of religious divides for political motives poses a serious threat to regional peace and international human rights standards. The spokesperson called for immediate steps by New Delhi to protect all citizens, regardless of their faith or ethnicity.

“Such divisive policies jeopardize religious harmony and could lead to long-term instability in the region,” the spokesperson warned. “It is imperative that India upholds its constitutional obligations and respects the fundamental rights of its minorities.”

The Foreign Office urged the international community to closely monitor the situation and hold India accountable for violations of international human rights laws.

Pakistan has consistently raised the issue of minority rights in India at global platforms, particularly in light of rising influence of Hindu nationalist factions. Human rights organisations have also expressed alarm over increasing constraints on religious freedom and the spread of anti-Muslim narratives across Indian society.

“Inclusivity, dialogue, and mutual respect are essential to counter hate and build a peaceful future for all communities,” the statement concluded.
