Sheikh Ahmad Awujoola, a prominent Islamic cleric, has called on those within the inner circle of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, to offer sincere and constructive guidance that will help strengthen unity and peace in Oyo town.

The appeal was made during a Jum’at sermon at Awujoola Central Mosque in Saabo, Oyo, where the religious leader urged the High Chiefs, members of the Oyo-Meesi, and other influential figures close to the monarch to be mindful of the counsel they offer to the newly enthroned king.

Sheikh Awujoola highlighted the spiritual significance of Oba Owoade’s ascension to the throne, which came three years after the demise of the revered Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. According to the cleric, the installation of the new Alaafin is a divine appointment, receiving not only the blessings of Allah but also the endorsement of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Now that our royal father has emerged, we must all rally around him in unity and prayers,” the cleric said.
“His success depends not just on his wisdom, but also on the quality of advice he receives from those around him.”

He further stressed the role of the monarch as a symbol of unity and a custodian of Yoruba tradition, urging the people of Oyo to prioritize communal harmony and resist influences that might divide them.

“It is Allah who appoints kings. The Alaafin deserves the support of every son and daughter of Oyo, especially in these early days of his reign,” he added.

Sheikh Awujoola also warned against sycophancy, noting that leaders often face the risk of being surrounded by individuals with selfish motives. He emphasized the importance of truth, sincerity, and godliness in offering advice to those in positions of authority.

“We must be people of integrity, especially when offering counsel. The fate of our community is tied to the choices our leaders make,” he said.
