7 Duas for Protection from Diseases


Getting sick sometimes makes everything worse such as we could not do everything we want. Sometimes, it can make us have anxiety or turn into depression because of our illness.

That is why, there is no one in this world that willing to get sick. We can pray for ourselves or make prayer for parents’ health to protect them from any disease.

Commonly, we pray to Allah that we don’t want to get the infection to some illness. Abu Dawud mentions that the best dua to prevent the disease from coming to us mentions below.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبَرَصِ، وَالْجُنُونِ، وَالْجُذَامِ، وَمِنْ سَيِّئِ الأَسْقَامِ

“O, Allah, I seek refugee in You from leprosy, insanity, elephantiasis, and the worst diseases.”

Islam taught us that the best healer is in the Quran as always mentions the Shifa. If we recite the surah on it verse by verse, we can keep away from any diseases. There is a lot of surahs that mention in the Quran to cure the disease. Here we have some of the Quranic dua for diseases.

1. The Quran Surah Al Fatihah (1: 1-7)

Commonly, the Quran surah Al Fatihah generalized to be the healer for any diseases. Recite the Surah daily so that you can protect yourself from any diseases. This common-sense comes from the Surah Al-Hijjr, 15:87.

 

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ الْمَثَانِيْ وَالْقُرْاٰنَ الْعَظِيْمَ – ٨٧

“And truly, We have given you seven (verses) that are (recited) repeatedly and the great Qur’an.”

2. The Quran Surah Al Isra (17: 82)

Recite the Quran surah Al Isra verse 82 can be the cure from any diseases for them who believe in Allah. The meaning of this verse is clearly to heal and has the power to purify both the body and soul. Allah will purify them who asking gratefulness from Allah. That is why we need to seek His refugee.

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْاٰنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاۤءٌ وَّرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَۙ وَلَا يَزِيْدُ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ اِلَّا خَسَارًا – ٨٢

“And We send down from the Qur’an (something) which is an antidote and mercy for those who believe, while for those who do wrong (the Qur’an) will only add to the loss.”

3. The Quran Surah Sad (38:41)

Recite the Quran surah Sad verse 41 to remind us about how the prophet Ayyub suffer a lot from the disease. He prays to Allah, so that Allah heal him. We can recite this verse to cure ourselves when approaching some diseases. We can learn how the prophet Ayyub has a lot of patience through the disease. So, we need patience if we get sick too.

وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ اَيُّوْبَۘ اِذْ نَادٰى رَبَّهٗٓ اَنِّيْ مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطٰنُ بِنُصْبٍ وَّعَذَابٍۗ – ٤١

“And remember our servant Ayyub when he called on his Lord, “Verily, I am plagued by demons with suffering and disaster.”

4. The Quran Surah Yunus (10: 57)

Recite the Quran surah Yunus verse 57 so that you understand that Allah made the Quran for the cure. The Quran is worth medical treatment both body and soul to who believed it. The method of healing comes from Allah only. That is why we need to ask for His gratitude to get His miracles or blessing.

يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاۤءَتْكُمْ مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاۤءٌ لِّمَا فِى الصُّدُوْرِۙ وَهُدًى وَّرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ – ٥٧

“O, people! Indeed, you have learned a lesson (the Qur’an) from your Lord, a cure for a disease in the chest and guidance and mercy for a believer.”

5. The Quran Surah Al Anam (6:17)

Recite the Quran surah Al Anam verse 17 so that you will understand that everything comes from Allah only. There is no God except Him that capable to give you the easy and hard things. Besides, Muslims believe that every hard thing that may harm them comes to the cure from Allah only. There is a dua for hardship in Islam as mentions below.

وَاِنْ يَّمْسَسْكَ اللّٰهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهٗٓ اِلَّا هُوَ ۗوَاِنْ يَّمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ – ١٧

“And if God inflicts a disaster on you, nothing can eliminate it except Him. And if He brings goodness to you, He is almighty over everything.”

6. The Quran Surah Al Mu’minun (23: 109)

Recite the Quran surah Al Mu’minun for seeking Allah to get a cure from any diseases. Besides, this verse also means to get the medication process. Islam taught us about meditation in Islam by reciting the Quran. Allah will guide them who seek help only from Him by reciting this verse.

اِنَّهٗ كَانَ فَرِيْقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِيْ يَقُوْلُوْنَ رَبَّنَآ اٰمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَاَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرّٰحِمِيْنَ ۚ – ١٠٩

“In fact, there is a group of my servants praying, “O our Lord, we have faith, forgive us and grant us mercy, You are the best grantor of grace.”

7. The Quran Surah Al Baqarah (2: 155-157)

Recite the three verses of Quran surah Al Baqarah verse 155-157 can remind us that every time we get sick it the test from Allah. It is the form to testify our faith towards Allah. We need to be more patient with everything that comes to us as the testify. Besides, it is very important for saying “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji‘un” as mentions below.

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوْعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الْاَمْوَالِ وَالْاَنْفُسِ وَالثَّمَرٰتِۗ وَبَشِّرِ الصّٰبِرِيْنَ – ١٥٥

اَلَّذِيْنَ اِذَآ اَصَابَتْهُمْ مُّصِيْبَةٌ ۗ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّا لِلّٰهِ وَاِنَّآ اِلَيْهِ رٰجِعُوْنَۗ – ١٥٦

اُولٰۤىِٕكَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوٰتٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ ۗوَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُهْتَدُوْنَ – ١٥٧

“And We will surely test you with a little fear, hunger, lack of wealth, soul, and fruit. And deliver good tidings to those who are patient, (ie) those who, when afflicted by disaster, they say “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji‘un” (indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we return). They are the ones who receive forgiveness and grace from their Lord, and they are the ones who are guided.”

So, there are several glances of some surahs in the Quran that can protect us from any diseases. Let’s keep recite the Quran’s verses so that we can get a lot of Allah’s blessings.
