Why is the Quran important?
The Quran is the holy scripture in Islam, which is directly revealed from God. This is considered the speech of God, and it contains a guide for all of humanity in it. The Qur’an describes itself in its longest chapter: “This is a Book of which there is no doubt, a guide for those who are conscious of Allah” (Q. 2: 2). What does the word Quran mean?
The word “Quran” comes from the Arabic root, which means “to read.” Linguistically, the word “Quran” means “the most read.” This in itself is a miracle of the Quran, because when it was opened, the early Muslims did not know that this would be the most frequently read (and remembered!) Book. There are many other names for the Quran, for example, “Al-Kitab” (“Book”), “Al-Furqan” (Criterion) and “Mahfouz Law” (“Canned Pill”).

How does the Quran begin?
The Quran begins with Surah Al-Fatih or the Opening Chapter. These few verses are very powerful and are read many times by Muslims around the world. Muslims read this chapter of the Qur’an in each cycle of their prayers. Fulfilling the absolute minimum requirement of five daily prayers leads to the recitation of Sura Al-Fatih seventeen times. “In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the especially merciful. All praise is Allah, the Lord of the worlds. Totally gracious, especially merciful. Sovereign of the Day of Retribution. This we worship, and you ask for help. Direct us to the direct path. The path of those for whom you gave mercy, not those who summoned [Your] anger or those who go astray ”(Q.1: 1-7).
How does the Qur’an describe Jesus?
Muslims consider Jesus one of the most beloved prophets of God. His story is mentioned several times in the Quran, in which he is referred to as Isa ibn Maryam or Jesus, the son of Mary. The Qur’an mentions his miraculous birth, as well as his ability to speak like a newborn. Shortly after the verses describing how he protects his mother’s chastity, the chapter, called Maryam in the Quran, continues:
“This is Jesus, the son of Mary, the word of truth about which they argue. Is not [befitting] for Allah take a son; exalted He! When He describes the case, He only says to him: “Be”, and this is so.
