The Muslim World League (MWL), headquartered in Makkah, has announced financial backing for UNICEF’s “Green Skills Training Programme for Non-Formal Education Students” in Pakistan. This initiative is designed to empower adolescents, with a particular focus on girls, by equipping them with essential green and digital skills to boost employability and pave the way for a sustainable future.
The programme, spearheaded by UNICEF, seeks to address challenges like the climate crisis and digital inequality, ensuring vulnerable youth in Pakistan are equipped to achieve their potential and contribute to national progress.
Expanding the Partnership to Multiple Regions
As part of a broader agreement worth $1.5 million, MWL and UNICEF will also extend their efforts to enhance maternal, newborn, and child healthcare services in Afghanistan, while supporting educational and skill-building initiatives in Chad.

The agreement was formalized during the global conference on the Muslim World League’s initiative hosted in Pakistan. UNICEF’s Executive Director Catherine Russell was represented by Abdullah A. Fadil, UNICEF’s Representative in Pakistan, while Dr. Shaima Alluqmani, MWL’s General Manager of Strategic Partnerships, signed on behalf of the MWL.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to ensuring that no girl is left behind,” said Abdullah Fadil. “By providing essential skills and education, especially for girls, we can help create a more prosperous and equitable society.”
Dr. Shaima Alluqmani highlighted MWL’s dedication to tangible projects that transform lives. She emphasized the league’s initiative, Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities, which focuses on supporting educational services, raising awareness, and combating misconceptions that hinder girls’ access to education.
“Our partnerships and initiatives aim to include everyone, ensuring no child is excluded from their legitimate right to education,” Alluqmani added.
