The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims to observe the crescent of Sha’aban 1446 AH starting from Wednesday.
This announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday in Sokoto by Professor Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman of the Sultanate Council’s Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs.
The statement reads, “The Muslim community is hereby notified that Wednesday, January 29th, corresponding to the 29th day of Rajab 1446 AH, marks the day to observe the new crescent of Sha’aban 1446 AH. Muslims are encouraged to look out for the crescent on this day and report any sightings to the nearest district or village head, who will relay the information to the Sultan.”

The Sultan offered heartfelt prayers for Allah’s continued guidance and blessings on all Muslims as they carry out their religious responsibilities.
Sha’aban, the eighth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, serves as a spiritual precursor to Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting and worship for Muslims worldwide.
