An Accrington resident, Ishaq Hussain, aged 33, has confessed to a stabbing incident that occurred outside a local mosque earlier this year.
Hussain appeared before Preston Crown Court’s Session House on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a knife blade or sharp-pointed weapon in a public place.
The attack, which targeted Umer Farooq, took place outside the Raza Jamia Masjid on Lower Antley Street in July. Emergency services responded to the scene and found a man in his 40s suffering from serious injuries. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

Another man, Aiwaz Hussain, 22, from Station Road, Bamber Bridge, was also charged in connection with the same incident. His charges include two counts of Section 18 wounding with intent, attempted murder, and possession of a bladed article in public.
During his earlier court appearance on October 6, Aiwaz admitted to one count of wounding with intent but denied the other allegations. He remains in custody and is scheduled to stand trial on January 19.
At a previous hearing at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court, prosecutor Kate Moore revealed that the violent episode was part of a larger dispute linked to an ongoing family feud in the area.
Ishaq Hussain, who currently has no fixed address, has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced alongside his co-defendant once all proceedings conclude.
