TUTONG, BRUNEI – The spiritual connection between families and the Al-Quran was deeply renewed during the Program Pencinta Al-Quran, a special gathering held as part of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults 1446 Hijrah.
The meaningful event, hosted at Ma’had Islam Brunei in Tutong District, was aimed at strengthening family bonds through the teachings of the Holy Quran. Organized to promote Islamic values and foster deeper religious commitment within households, the programme was a celebration of gratitude to Allah the Almighty for the blessings bestowed upon those devoted to His word.
A key highlight of the event was an inspiring Quranic recitation by Haji Azraie bin Dato’ Haji Abdul Hak from Malaysia. Accompanied by his family, his presence symbolized the programme’s central message: the importance of family unity through Al-Quran.
Haji Azraie, who was honoured as the Keedsflix Family Al-Quran Icon 2023 and crowned winner of the International Tilawah and Al-Quran Memorisation Competition in Kuwait in 2018, also led an insightful dialogue session, sharing his personal journey with the attendees.
The programme commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a heartfelt prayer led by Mohammad Adilah bin Suimi, Mosque Affairs Officer of Kampong Danau Mosque.
Gracing the event as Guest of Honour was Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, accompanied by his spouse. Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Permanent Secretary at MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, and several other senior officials and Legislative Council members.
The programme not only encouraged community-wide Quran engagement but also highlighted the essential role families play in preserving and nurturing Islamic teachings across generations. Through events like these, Brunei continues its mission to uphold and spread the timeless values of the Holy Quran within society.
