Korea and Indonesia Strengthen Partnership to Boost Muslim Women Entrepreneurs

The Indonesian Muslim Women Entrepreneurs Association (IPEMI) celebrated a decade of empowering women from May 4-6, 2025, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The milestone event served as a springboard for enhancing cooperation between women entrepreneurs, technology innovators, and cross-border businesses.

Bringing together over 700 participants, including IPEMI President Ingrid Kansil and top Indonesian government representatives, the event reflected on IPEMI’s achievements and charted a strategic vision for the future. The gathering emphasized the critical role of women-led enterprises in driving economic growth and fostering international partnerships.

Korea’s Digital Vision for IPEMI’s Future Growth

Lee Gwang-yeon, Chairman of Pasifik Korea, played a pivotal role at the event by introducing a forward-thinking digital strategy aimed at reinforcing IPEMI’s community and expanding its business opportunities. Lee unveiled two key digital platforms:

  • IPEMI Ummah: A nonprofit community hub dedicated to building trust, fostering knowledge-sharing, and connecting Muslim entrepreneurs.

  • IPEMI Tijarah: An e-commerce platform focused on enhancing business reach and facilitating cross-border trade for IPEMI members.

“These platforms are designed to bridge communities, create sustainable growth, and integrate Muslim businesses globally — starting with Korea and Indonesia,” Lee emphasized.

Both initiatives are being developed by PK CNHI, with pilot testing scheduled in Korea later this year. Full-scale deployment for IPEMI members is targeted for 2026.

Technological Innovations to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Supporting this vision, Moon Jun-ho, CEO of Sune Korea, was introduced as a strategic technology partner. With extensive expertise in global finance and mergers & acquisitions, Moon outlined two complementary initiatives:

  • PK HalalPay: An ethical digital finance solution co-created with blockchain firm Medito, aimed at providing Shariah-compliant payment systems.

  • IU.ai: An AI-driven startup platform simplifying e-commerce business creation for aspiring entrepreneurs.

These technological advancements are poised to lower barriers for Muslim women entrepreneurs, enabling seamless entry into the digital economy.

Indonesian Government Backs Women’s Economic Empowerment

Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, expressed strong support for IPEMI’s mission. “I hope IPEMI will champion the empowerment of five million Muslim women entrepreneurs and play a vital role in managing religious facilities across 38 provinces,” he said.

The event underscored the shared commitment of Korea and Indonesia to fostering inclusive economic development, with Muslim women entrepreneurs at the forefront of this transformative journey.
