Focus on Nigerians’ welfare, security, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at tells political leaders

THE Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria has appealed to political leaders to be conscious of their accountability to Allah and Nigerians and make the best use of resources at their disposal to meet the welfare and security needs of the people.

The amir (national head) of the jama’at, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Alatoye, made this appeal at a press conference on the state of the nation held at the jama’at’s headquarters in Ojokoro, Lagos.

Alatoye declared that accountability to Allah “is unavoidable” and “forgetting it totally in our dealings is suicidal for our next phase of life.”

He cautioned elected or appointed public officials against using power to convert resources entrusted to them to personal use, saying “their reward is in the correct application of the resources without taking a dime that does not belong to them.”

Alhaji Alatoye said with the 2023 elections won and lost, the focus of the leaders should be on the welfare and security of all the peoples of Nigeria in all ramifications.

The amir thanked Allah for the successful conduct of the elections but called for the evaluation of “our performances” and correction of “our actions as much as possible for a better future.”

He commended the plans made by the government and the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) towards the success of the elections but observed that in the execution of the exercise, there were some areas where improvement was required.

The Ahmadiyya leader encouraged all politicians who lost out in the elections to approach the relevant grievance-resolution institutions and avoid resorting to self-help.

Alhaji Alatoye advised the aggrieved to pursue their cases peacefully through legal means and avoid negativism like calling for an interim government or involving in any form of insurrection.

He appealed to judges who will be hearing the election cases to discharge their duty conscientiously.

He also urged Nigerians to continue to obey Allah’s commandment to elect competent and trustworthy leaders at every election cycle.read moreTribune Online1dslide-imageslide-imageslide-imagePolice foil armed robbery operation in AbujaCourt nullifies Kogi APC congresses to elect guber candidate-Share Story

He gave the assurance that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at would continue to support and pray for government at all levels and reiterated the jama’at’s “commitment to discharging our civic responsibilities to the country in the most peaceful manner.”
