Sokoto, Nigeria – Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, representing the Sokoto South Senatorial District, has initiated the distribution of essential food supplies valued at millions of naira to over 30,000 households across all 244 council wards in the state.
The official flag-off of the initiative took place on Monday at Senator Tambuwal’s residence in Sokoto. Addressing attendees, the former governor highlighted that the program is designed to alleviate economic hardship and support residents during the holy month of Ramadan.
“In these trying times, we remain committed to easing the burdens faced by our people. With gratitude to Almighty Allah, we have commenced the distribution of food items and financial support for small-scale businesses. Our goal is to provide relief and assistance where it is most needed,” Tambuwal stated.

The relief package includes bags of rice and monetary support aimed at empowering small-scale entrepreneurs in the region. The former Speaker of the House of Representatives reaffirmed his dedication to community welfare and development, stressing the importance of taking tangible actions to support constituents during this crucial period.
Beyond the humanitarian effort, Tambuwal took the opportunity to rally members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, vowing that the party remains resolute in reclaiming what he described as its “stolen” mandate in the upcoming 2027 elections.
The event was attended by key PDP stakeholders, including State Party Chairman Alhaji Aliyu Bello Goronyo, former Deputy Governor Alhaji Maniru Dan’iya, and ex-Transport Minister Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman. Goronyo commended Tambuwal’s leadership and praised the unity among party members, predicting that the PDP would emerge victorious in the state’s next electoral cycle.
The initiative underscores Tambuwal’s ongoing efforts to provide relief to his constituents and strengthen the party’s presence in Sokoto State amid prevailing economic challenges.
